Oxford cloth itself is not a naturally waterproof material. Its waterproof performance depends primarily on the following factors:
Material Selection: If Oxford cloth is made from synthetic fibers such as nylon or polyester, it will inherently possess some water-repellent properties. Compared to cotton Oxford cloth, synthetic fiber versions are more effective at blocking water.
Post-processing: Applying coatings or films to the fabric surface can significantly improve the waterproof performance of Oxford cloth. Common methods include resin coatings and waterproofing agent spraying. These treatments form a protective film on the fabric surface, increasing its water-repellent ability.
Fiber Blends: Some Oxford cloths incorporate waterproof components during the fiber blending stage, thus possessing a certain degree of waterproof performance before the fabric is woven into its final form.
