Fluorescent fabric, originally a polyester-cotton blend, is also known as polyester-covered cotton. It's made by weaving high-grade FDY or DTY filaments with combed pure cotton yarn. Due to the 3/1 or 4/1 twill weave, the polyester floats on the surface far outnumber the cotton floats, while the cotton floats are concentrated on the back, making it appear as if the polyester is covering the cotton, hence the name "polyester-covered cotton." This fabric is easy to dye in bright colors on the front, with a rich luster, while the back is made of high-strength cotton, offering high strength and a comfortable feel against the skin.
This fabric, especially when dyed fluorescent, has vibrant colors, and its fluorescence meets EN471 or EN20471 standards. Other names include polyester-covered cotton woven fabric and polyester-covered cotton workwear fabric.
