Reflective Safety Fabric is a retroreflective textile used as a visibility component in sewn safety products. Common applications include high-visibility workwear, traffic and road-maintenance garments, police and security apparel, cycling products, and other clothing worn in low-light or nighttime conditions.

Key Features

Retroreflective Performance

The glass microspheres have a refractive index above 1.9. At the stated 5°/12′ geometry, the fabric reaches a retroreflective coefficient of about 500 cd/lx/m². When vehicle headlights hit roadside garments, traffic-control apparel or night-shift uniforms, the surface directs light back toward the source, improving nighttime visibility.

Reflectivity After Washing

After 25 ISO 6330 wash cycles, more than 80% of the original reflective level is retained. For reusable uniforms, this gives a measurable indication of how much reflective performance remains after routine laundering.

Cold and Flex Resistance

No cracking is observed at -20°C, and the material shows no reflective loss after 5,000 flex cycles. These results are relevant at elbows, shoulders, pocket edges and other garment areas that bend repeatedly during wear, where a brittle or flaking reflective layer would be most noticeable.

Customization Capability

Backing Options

A 100% polyester plain-weave backing gives a firmer sew-on tape. A knitted backing can be used when the material needs to conform more closely to the garment.

Reflective Structure and Daytime Color

Reflective construction can be based on glass beads or microprismatic elements. Daytime color options include silver-gray, yellow and orange-red.

Slit Width

The finished material can be slit from 20 mm up to 1,400 mm, covering narrow garment trim, larger panel inserts and converting operations.

Quality Control

Before the reflective layer is applied, backing fabric is checked for width, weight, surface cleanliness and stable tension. During coating, bead or optical-element distribution and bond uniformity are monitored, with attention to bare spots, streaks and uneven brightness across the roll.
Pre-shipment samples are compared with the approved reflective-performance specification and the approved reference. The lot is released after those checks are completed.
Each roll is also checked for coating damage, creasing, edge defects, contamination and width accuracy before packing. Independent third-party inspection can be arranged when it is required for shipment release.
