Outdoor Tent Fabric

This product is for mountaineering, trekking, and four season tents. These tents face wind, rain, snow, and strong sun. The fabric must do many jobs at once. It must block water, let sweat vapor out, resist wind, and stop UV rays. We use 70D nylon with a PTFE membrane for this product. The base is 70D×70D nylon ripstop. The weight is 55 grams per square meter. The inside has a microporous PTFE membrane. Each pore is 0.1 to 0.3 microns wide. Liquid water cannot pass through a pore that small. But water vapor molecules are smaller. They can escape. The outside has a C6 fluorocarbon water repellent treatment. The total weight with the membrane is 85 grams per square meter. We call this product Outdoor Tent Fabric. It is designed for harsh conditions.

This Outdoor Tent Fabric stops wind almost completely. The air permeability is less than 0.1 cubic centimeters per second per square centimeter. Wind does not go through. But the fabric lets sweat vapor escape. That is very important for high altitude camping. If vapor cannot escape, condensation forms inside the tent. Then your sleeping bag gets wet. With our fabric, you stay dry from both sides. The PTFE membrane does not crack after repeated folding. We test it for 100 folds. The membrane stays intact. The fabric is also light. A full tent packs down to a small size. That is good for long hikes. We also test UV aging. After 300 hours of QUV, the fabric keeps over 85% of its strength. The water contact angle stays above 110 degrees. Rain drops roll off.
