Ripstop Tent Fabric

Ripstop Tent Fabric is a nylon 6.6 shelter fabric with a reinforcement grid woven into the base to slow the spread of a tear. It is used for trekking tent panels, rainflies, tarps, awnings and other portable shelter sections that are repeatedly tensioned or may rub against branches and equipment.

Reinforced Grid for Tear Control

The Key Data Table specifies a 70D x 160D nylon 6.6 base with 200D reinforcement laid out on a 5 mm x 5 mm grid. Tear strength is 55 N warp / 50 N weft, compared with about 25 N for the normal 70D fabric reference. If a small tear starts under tension, the grid is there to interrupt its rapid spread across the panel.

4,000 mm Waterproofing with Defined Tensile Strength

Water resistance is 4,000 mm H2O under ISO 811, and tensile strength is 750 N warp / 650 N weft. Those values cover two main fabric-level demands during taut pitching and wind-driven rain: keeping water out and carrying tension around seams, guy-out areas and the main panel.

UV and Abrasion Retention for Repeated Outdoor Use

After 500 hours of QUV exposure, the table records more than 90% strength retention. Abrasion loss is less than 0.2 g after 500 CS-10 cycles at a 500 g load. These results are relevant to panels that are packed, rubbed and exposed to sunlight over repeated use.

Ripstop Construction

Base yarn, reinforcement layout and grid geometry can be matched to an approved sample or technical requirement for the shelter project.

Color and Surface Finish

Solid colors and project-specific surface requirements can be added to the approved production specification.

Functional Option

CPAI-84 flame-retardant construction can be specified when the finished shelter program requires it.

• Ripstop production is checked for base-yarn construction, reinforcement placement, grid geometry, finished weight and visible weaving defects before the roll is released.
• Where required by the order, testing follows the Key Data Table for tear strength, water resistance, tensile strength, UV aging and abrasion.
• A 100% roll inspection checks yarn breaks, grid defects, holes, shade variation, edge damage, usable length and labeling before packing. Third-party pre-shipment inspection can be accepted.
